Frequently Asked Questions for Providers and Organizations

Do you take insurance?

No, I do not accept any insurance plans at this time. That said, I am happy to provide families with a superbill (upon request) to assist in obtaining reimbursement for my services.

What measures do you use in your evaluations?

I believe in the use of performance-based standardized assessment measures to evaluate for autism. For telehealth evaluations, the measures I most commonly use include Vanderbilt's TELE-ASD-PEDS (for young children) and/or the Childhood Autism Rating Scale, Second Edition (CARS-2). For in-person services provided through my mobile autism clinic, I utilize the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2). As part of my evaluation process, I may also ask parents/caregivers to complete collateral measures, such as the Autism Spectrum Rating Scale (ASRS) or the Behavior Assessment System for Children, Third Edition (BASC-3). That said, if a family requires specific measures to be administered (i.e., for insurance to approve certain services), I am happy to try to accommodate this, upon request from the family.

Are your services solely telehealth at this time?

Yes, my practice only provides telehealth services at this time. That said, Dr. Collins is in the process of establishing a mobile autism clinic where she will be able to see families in-person at participating organizations that are located in the Richmond, Charlottesville, and surrounding areas.

How do I refer families to you?

Please feel free to give families my phone number (804-214-7680), email address (drcollins@mcpsyd.net), and/or my website (www.drcollins.net) where they can submit a contact form. I check all of these regularly and get back to families in a timely manner.
